Volvo is always trying to find a way to make their vehicles
safer and provide the most cutting edge technology. Many people predict that
you will have some sort of auto-pilot that will allow your car to drive for you
in the near future. We already see vehicles that have sensors for your cruise
control, and some of the higher-end vehicles will even park for you. Volvo just
happens to be one of the makers that offer both of these options and more.
Volvo Detection System
We always hear of accidents happening when a driver did not see a pedestrian, or a pedestrian stepped in front of a moving vehicle. How great would it be if we could eliminate accidents like this altogether? Volvo is making some big strides in order to ensure that this is the case. They project that by 2020 no person will be killed or injured by any party driving a newer Volvo model. This will be thanks to the Volvo detection system. Currently this detection system is available in some of the higher-end models such as the S60.
The Volvo Detection System is an amazing feature that is perfect for anyone no matter what size vehicle that they drive. It is a system that uses radar in order to detect objects or individuals that may be in your driving path. It will determine the speed of these people or object and let you know if they will end up in your path and will cause a collision. The system will play a sound in order to alert you to the potential danger, and if you do not react in time it will also brake your vehicle for you. Currently this system is expected to help avoid any and all collisions when you are driving 35 mph and under. It is not aggressive enough to avoid all collisions over 35 mph, but it will greatly reduce the damage or fatalities of high-speed accidents.
Smart Pad Technology
Your dash and interior is no longer cluttered with buttons and gadgets, but instead a series of touch-screens. These touch-screens will not only be hidden information centers, but they will also allow for a great deal of shared information while also remaining a safety feature. Some of the screens will be blank until the driver or passenger look at or approach the screen. It will know who is approaching the screen based on the movement of the car and will direct the information in that direction. You will have what is considered to be infotainment centers where you can surf the web and even share information by sending it to the screen for the passengers in the rear of the vehicle. Volvo also made the effort to promote safety, so a driver will not be able to surf the web on any screens while the car is in motion.
Volvo is making huge strides for becoming known as one of the more tech-savvy makers on the market. They not only are at the top of their game where safety is concerned, but also where you can find entertainment and style in your vehicle.
